You never know what your creative endeavors will become. Sometimes they go nowhere, sometimes they become what you aimed for, sometimes they create a life of their own. Many great successes were sleepers, totally a surprise to the creator and the public.
Sometimes the hit song isn’t as great once produced and the song you kind of liked becomes an absolute favorite, taking the lead + changing your entire career.
I started as a vocal coach with Kjersti Long - a talented young artist. I became a mentor and then we wrote a song. A year later I was brought in to co-write + vocal produce some songs produced by Paul Moak,. Then a second album. Shout out to her dad and co-writer, Jeremy! I brought in Tabitha Fair for bvs - oh lord, is she amazing. What fun we all had. It was creatively so fulfilling + we made some terrific music.
Did I mention my partner was pregnant at the time and close enough to deliver I was just hoping not to get a call telling me I had to rush home!
Well, a number of months later, Jeremy tells me his award winning musical theater director brother + an award winning playwright are developing a unique kind of musical + Kjersti and our music are in it - it’s a Broadway bound musical!
When you love what you do, say yes to projects that you feel passionate about, and work with good people - that's the magic. That's the success in and of itself, and it's where good things happen. I NEVER would have predicted this. I’m so proud of the work I've done + what their team is doing now.
